It's now down to the Last Eight , out of the 16 teams that started off their Cup campaign to achieve European Glory , only 2 of the best teams from Each of the 4 groups will feature in the Quarterfinal of Euro Cup 2012 . While for many of these teams whose dreams have been cut short , there remains only the last eight teams who will hold their banners high .
Tonight will feature the 1st Quarterfinal of the tournament , with Czech Republic locking horns with an experienced Portuguese side . Czechs made their way up to the last eight winning 2 out of their 3 Games in the group stages , while for Portugal , being placed in one of the toughest groups what some calls "The Group of Death" were clubbed together with teams such as Netherlands , Germany and Denamrk .Portugal , advanced with 6 points and runner ups of Group B . With the likes of Experienced and talented players such as Nani , Cristiano Ronaldo , Raul Meireles Portugal may have a slight advantage against Czech Republic tonight . Czech Republic on the other hand , are more relied upon their band of Experienced and slightly aged players such as Rosicky , Baros and their renowned Goalkeeper Peter Cech , who will surely be a bust man tonight .
Ronaldo , in his last game against Dutch once again reminded why is considered to be one of the greatest in the game , after a spectacular performance against Netherlands , specifically during his second goal where he sprinted 40 yards into the Dutch defense then dribbled his way across and scored a spell bounding goal that secured Portugal's spot in the Quarterfinals. In context to Ronaldo's impact on the team fellow teammate Raul Meireles said :
He gives his all at every training session . He is our leader and , on the pitch , there is no one who wants to win more than him .
Goalkeeper Peter Cech also was claimed that Portugal were a team full of Personalities and were certainly a the favorites tonight , if not the tournament . However , he is confident they can defeat Portugal tonight as they have displayed their fighting spirit in the games in the group stages , and will fight till the end .
