Euro Cup 2012 Group B Results : Germany , Portugal head to Quarterfinals.

Reults :- Denmark vs Germany : 1-2 , Portugal vs Netherlands : 2-1 

This Sunday was  witness to an intense showdown between some of the major European teams , fighting for a spot in the Quarterfinals of the Euro Cup 2012 . It was Germany along with Portugal who unlocked the key for advancing to the next stages after defeating Denmark 1-2 and Netherlands 2-1 respectively . Germany, now advances with the maximum number of points in their bag , after winning all of their scheduled matches in the  group stages . Hailed by many as one of  the top contenders for the title this year , the  Germans will surely sweep their opponents , if the continue their run in this manner in the upcoming stages .

Lars Bender along with a smashing strike from  Lukas Podolski secured a victory for the Germans , and earned themselves  Qualification ticket for the Quarterfinals. Podolski , apart from scoring the crucial goal , also earned himself his 100th Cap for Germany in yesterday's game against Denmark .

In another game on Sunday night ,  featuring  Netherlands vs Portugal , Cristiano Ronaldo did enough to silence his critics finally  , after scoring  his first much awaited goal of the tournament, against the Dutch  to help his team through to the last eight , of the Euro Cup 2012. 

 Ronaldo , Struck a double scoring in th 28th and 74th minute of the game .

While for Netherlands , their campaign this year ended with  bitter disappointment and  a sense of apology towards their fans back home .After reaching the World Cup Finals in 2010 , Netherlands were marked by many as the team to watch out for this year . But after a disappointing Group stage result , losing all their 3 scheduled matches against Germans , Denmark and Portugal respectively.  

Van Merwijk's team will find it hard confronting their supporters and the press back at home , while it will be a long ride back for Van Persie , Robben and the likes .
