Euro Cup 2012 Group C results : Italy and Spain Advance into Last Eight

                  Game : Italy 2 - 0 Ireland | Croatia 0 - 1 Spain 

Shattering , Croatia's dream in the Euros , it will be Spain along with Italy who advance into the Quarterfinals after earning satisfying victories against the Croatians and the Irish respectively . Italy , go through after a 2-0 victory over Ireland in one of the Group C games last night.  With strikes from Antonio Cassano and Mario Balotelli , Italy gained a convincing win over Ireland , who lost their third game in a row .

While in Gdansk Italians were fighting for a place in the quarterfinals , their fortune hanged in a balance relying on the scenario of another game which was in progress ,  Croatia  vs Spain . 

But to the relief of the Azzuri , a Jesus Navas strike which stood out as the only goal in the game canceled out any possibilities for the Croatians to advance into the later stages.  Ireland , on the other side were out of the picture , for a place in the quarterfinals but coach Trapattoni's men gave a tough fight to the 2006 world champions , after starting off the game with a promising and lively manner .  The 'Luck of the Irish ' surely didn't seem to favor  them  in their Euro Cup campaign this year . Ireland , qualified for the Euro's this year after a long wait of  almost a decade , but failed to make their mark . Thus, with goals from Antoni Cassano and Balotelli Italian's now find themselves in the quarterfinals , being placed  second  in the group standings , with 5 points .

Croatia vs Spain ,  boosted Italy's chances , after Jesus Navas' goal earned Spain the top spot in Group C with 7 points .
