India finished Day 1 of the 1st Test against New Zealand at Hyderabad on a high, thanks to Cheteshwar Pujara. India are 307/5 at Stumps on Day 1.
India had won the toss and decided to bat first. Sehwag and Gambhir got India off to a flier, but could not carry on. Tendulkar too fell for just 19. India were 125/3 when Kohli joined Pujara in the middle.
The two young Indian batsmen made merry onj Day 1 as both of them added 125 for the 4th wicket. Virat Kohli fell for a well compiled 58 to Martin. But Pujara carried on and scored his maiden Test Century.
Pujara was unbeaten on 119 at Stumps on Day 1 with Dhoni giving him company on 29. India will look to get to atleast 450 on Day 2 and put the Kiwis under pressure.
