South Africa beat England by 51 runs in the 3rd Test and won the 3 Test Series 2-0. This series victory takes them to the top of the ICC Test Rankings.
South Africa had scored 309 in their first innings with half centuries from Philander and JP Duminy. England did a step better and took a 6 run lead in the 1st innings.
South Africa then needed a solid batting show and Hashim Amla did just that. South Africa reached 351, thanks to Amla's 121. South Africa set England 346 to chase in 103 overs.
England got to a poor start and were reduced to 46/4. Trott and Bairstow then took the bowling on started going for the target. Late flourishes by Prior, Broad and Swann did not prove enough as England fell short by 51 runs.
Vernon Philander was adjuged the Man of the Match.
