Dream come true for Baichung’s United Sikkim

 It has been a rollercoaster ride for Baichung’s United Sikkim this season  in the I-League 2nd division,  as they finally  succeeded in meandering their way out through every hardships are now promoted to the first tier  of Indian  football . United Sikkim will be now witnessed dawning in their outfits in the I-League. Baichung  Bhutia ,after bidding farewell to the beautiful game , dedicated himself in promoting his team to the top tier of Indian football  and eventually the “ hard work”  has finally paid off according to the 36 year old .  “ It’s a dream come true for me. It’s one of my memorable days. A year  of  hard work dedication and diligence has paid dividends “.

It was on their home ground in Gangtok, under the heavy supervision of every eye in Sikkim, that they managed to book their place in the I-League. Drawing 1-1 with Kolkata club Mohammedan Sporting , at the jammed packed  stadium in Gangtok , Danniel Bidemy converted a gifted penalty assuring his side a  1 goal advantage in the first phase of the match, but soon after the break it was  now Mohammedan Sporting’s  Alfred Jaryan, who found the back of the net on the 59th minute . The game eventually drew to a close ,as both sides claimed a point each ,but it was Baichung’s United Sikkim who emerged as the  real victors as they  whiskered pass their counterpart for the day, by a single point in tables  and thus secured a  their place in the top tier .It was  a win-win for baichung.
Even the Sikkim government were ecstatic about the whole scenario , chief minister  Pawan Kumar did his bit in backing the side  as well.
