It was a starry night at the PCA Stadium in Mohali , both off
the field and on it .With bollywood
stars SRK , Juhi Chawla ,Preity Zinta and TV reality show Celebrity Vindoo Dara
Singh cheering for their teams, it promised to be a great game but turned out
to be a pretty one sided affair in the end.
Kings XI Punjab were batting first on a lively pitch and KKR
bowlers utilized the conditions well and Brett Lee struck early as he dismissed
Valthaty for 8 runs only .Gilchrisht seemed to get back his form and was striking
the ball well, till he got a niggle in his hamstring and had to Retire- Hurt on 28. The Kolkata team seized the opportunity
and did not allow the home side to get away with the game . Punjab were going
well at 86 for two in the 14th over , when Lee struck again,
dismissing Shaun Marsh for 33.It was quite a controversial decision as the
replays showed that the ball had bounced just before Bisla’s gloves .
This proved to be the turning point of the game and when the
hard hitting Aussie David Hussey was run out for 10 runs two balls later the Kings
were in deep trouble. Gilly came back and provided some respectability to the
score as Punjab finished on 124/7 in 20 overs. Gilly remained Unbeaten on 40
off 30 balls. Lee and Narine starred with the ball taking 2 wickets each .
Kings XI Punjab Needed to Strike early, but it was just the
opposite . KKR began well with skipper Gambhir and Kiwi batsman McCullum going all guns blazing.KKR
reached 50 in just 5.2 overs. McCullum fell soon after on 15 runs as he tried
to pull a half-tracker by Chawla . Bisla was the next to head back to the pavilion
as he chopped one on to the stumps off Chawla . Kallis and Gambhir ensured that there were no hiccups and KKR
reached the target with 21 balls to spare .Gambhir remained not out on 66 and Kallis
on 30 runs.
