 France's Regret :

" Well , you never know in Football ", surely after Sunday's surprising turn of events in Euro Cup, this phrase is all the more justified . Unbeaten in 23 games , and without a single loss in Euro 2012 group stage unitll yesterday, France in their last group stage clash went down to  Sweden 2-0 , who lost their previous games back to back against Ukraine and England respectively.

Sweden , having been eliminated from the race to the Quarterfinals , were fighting for pride and honor , while for France it was all about qualifying and topping the Group Standings , but to their surprise , they succumbed to a Swedish team who fought valiantly and gave their supporters something to cheer about after bidding  farewell to this year's Euro Cup campaign .

A mesmerizing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a brilliant strike from Sebastian Larsson earned Sweden their much deserved win against France . The AC Milan man displaying excellent acrobatics scored the first and later on a late strike from Larson ensured Sweden their first victory in the Euro Cup 2012 . Ending a mind bobbling 23 matches Unbeaten streak , Sweden were more than happy after overhauling the French . Who will now go forth to the Quarterfinals to confront the defending champions Spain . France , before knew that their entry into the next stages were almost assured but seldom thought that would have to face a dissapointing defeat against a team who lost all their previous fixtures and had nothing to loose .  Coach Laurent Blanc certainly wasn't a happy yesterday after witnessing his side's terrible performance which comprised of a lot of miss passes , lack of composure and  specifically a vast number of chances that could have been capitalized . In spite of  dominating the possession throughout the game France failed to find their opening goal .

England's Victory  :

Meanwhile , in Ponzan England were busy confronting a stubborn Ukrainian side who gave away in the 48th minute to lose the game . A win for Ukraine on Sunday could have reserved  a spot in the Quarterfinals , as France went down to Sweden 2-0 in the other game. A fabolus returned to the English side for Wayne Rooney marked the goal which put England forth into the Quarterfinals of Euro Cup 2012 .

England now go through as leaders of Group D with 7 points .
