The Delhi Daredevils were up and going again in the DLF IPL 5 by hammering the home team Pune Warriors India by 8 wickets at the Subrata Roy Stadium. Pune Warriors won the toss and decided to bat first. But the decision did not work out well as they lost two wickets in the first 2 overs of the match. They lost Ryder for 0 and the skipper Ganguly for1. PWI were languishing at 1/2 when Robin Uthappa joined Manish Pandey in the middle. Manish Pandey was looking a class apart as he tonked the ball to all parts of the ground. Uthappa was supporting him well and the duo began to repair the early damage by scoring runs at a fair pace. Pandey and Uthappa both completed their 50's and set a good platform for the team Just when they needed to up the ante, Pandey did it well but Uthappa was finding it difficult to play the big shots. The Pune innings finally ended on 146/2 in their allotted 20 overs with Manish Pandey finishing on 80 not out of 56 deliveries and Uthappa on 60 not out in 58 balls. Morkel and Pathan took 1 wicket each. Uthappa and Pandey put on yhe highest partnership of the season as they added 144 for the 3rd wicket in 112 balls.
The target was not a big one for the much talked about Delhi Daredevils batting line up but they still had to get those runs. Sehwag and Jayawardene began in grand fashion before Mahela was run out for 18. One great man went and another came to the crease. Kevin Peitersen was looking in ominous touch and both he and Viru started punishing the Pune bowlers. Even Dada's magic could not work out today. Sehwag was in a demolihing mood as he was finding the fevce consistently. Finally, Rahul Sharma got the price wicket of Kevin Pietersen for 27, but till then the damage had been done.Sehwag scored his 50 in real quick time and finished the game in style by lofting a huge six over mid wicket. He scored 87 not out in just 48 balls and was adjudged the man of the match. Delhi Daredevils remain at the top of the table with 10 points and Pune slipped to 4th with 8 points.
