Kolkata Knightriders wins at BarbatiStadium

The Barbati Stadium in Cuttack was hosting its first game of the DLF IPL 5 and a huge crowd turned for the event. The Chargers  were still searching for victory in this edition of the IPL and were against a stubborn Kolkata Knight Riders side .Deccan Chargers were batting first and sand Sangakara opened with Dhawan .They began well and collected boundaries at a fast pace .

Dhawan was really knocking the ball well and helped the Chargers to reach 35 in 5 overs.Sangakara tried to be over ambitious and had his stumps knocked over by Balaji for a mere 12 Runs ,The hit duo of Parthiv Patel and Dhawan were together and they took the Chargers past 80 in the 12th over.ust when Deccan Chargers were  looking to launch their  innings   ,Parthiv was run out for 23. Dhawan fell soon after scoring his 50 .There was no momentum provided to the Chargers innings in the last 5 overs and they could manage a mere 126/7 in 20 vers. Lee and Narine were the pick of the   bowlers and gained two wickets each.

Deccan Chargers knew that they haven’t put enough runs on the board and were staring at their 5th defeat in this IPL.KKR did not have a good start as they lost McCulum early in the 3rd over  and Steyn was  the man who did it again for Deccan Chargers. Gambhir   was playing aggressively and Bisla too was looking good .But Deccan Chargers kept on taking at regular intervals .The KKR side were 20 of the last three overs surely ,they had made a mess of the run chase and it required  matured knock of 30 by Manoj Tiwary to guide them home to Victory in 19 overs.

KKR registered their Fourth Victory of the season and are currently third in the table behind Delhi and Rajasthan .Deccan Chargers are all but out of the tournament with five loses  in as  many games .They need to win at least 9 out of their remaining 11 games and that seems  too tough a challenge for any team in IPL 5 however strong the side may be.

Score :
Deccan Chargers -126/7 [20].
Dhawan-50
Parthiv-23
Lee-2/22 [M.O.M]

KKR-127/5 [19]
Tiwary-30*
Gambir-30
Steyn-2/24
