Watson and Lee Ruled Out of the 5th ODI due to Calf Strains. |
Australia's tour of England is heading towards the end as England take on Australia in the 5th and final ODI at Manchester. England have already won the series and are 3-0 ahead with 1 game being washed out. England will look for a complete whitewash as Australia play for pride here at Manchester. England have won 8 ODI's on the trot this summer and they will like to extend this unbeaten run. It is going to be a battle for pride as far as Australia are concerned.
England's domination this summer over their arch rivals has proved that they are a very good side in the shorter format as well. Alastair Cook has got to be given the credit for this brilliant show by his team. The top order for England has been in scintillating touch with Ian Bell leading the pack. Bell has registered 3 50's and 1 century in the 5 innings that he has played after making his comeback and his lowest score has been 40. These numbers are enough to justify his place in the England ODI team. Trott and Bopara along with Morgan have been the other prolific scorers as far as England are concerned. Cook has still not played a big knock in this series and all eyes will be on him today. The bowling department will once again comprise of 4 seamers and a spinner. Steven Finn will the man to watch out for with his swing and bounce. Although England have won the series, they will not take this game likely and will be giving it their all to complete a 4-0 whitewash.
Australia have been down and out in the ODI Series and it has been a really poor performance from Clarke's men. They have not even pushed England for a victory. The batting has failed drastically with sporadic performances from a few of the batsmen. They have now got more reasons to worry as Watson and Brett Lee have been ruled out of the 5th ODI due to a calf strain. Both of them suffered these injuries in the 4th ODI at Chester-Le-Street. Mitchell Starc has been called up as a replacement for this match. Australia will hope that they could end this tour on a winning note and be back next year for the Ashes with a lot more confidence. Australia will certainly try to salvage some pride before heading back home.
The match is scheduled to start at 13.00 GMT.
