It was the Caribbean show all the way at Lauderhill in Florida as West Indies beat New Zealand by 61 runs in the 2nd T20I and also conquered the series 2-0. Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine were the stars for West Indies as they completed the series whitewash.
West Indies were once again batting first and the dangerous pair of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith opened the innings. Smith could not do much, falling to Bracewell for just 13. It was then Chris Gayle who continued his good form, hammering 3 fours and 4 mammoth sixes in his knock of 53 in 39 balls. Johnson Charles (36) supported him well at the other end as the two put on 72 runs for the 2nd wicket. After the dismissal of Gayle, there was still no respite for New Zealand. Dwayne Bravo provided the perfect end to the West Indies innings, scoring 35 in just 11 balls. His knock comprised of 1 four and 4 sixes. West Indies finally finished on 177/5 in their 20 overs.
New Zealand had their work cut out and were dearly missing their skipper Ross Taylor, who is out of the series due to a shoulder injury. There was no momentum in the New Zealand innings as the whole team fell like a pack of cards. Daniel Flynn was the highest scorer with 22 runs in 19 balls. New Zealand were bowled out for a mere 116 in the 19th over, falling short by 61 runs. Sunil Narine took 4/12 in 4 overs and was adjudged the Man of the Match. Chris Gayle was awarded the Man of the Series as West Indies won the 2 T20I Series 2-0.
