London Olympics 2012 Boxing: Sumit Sangwan Loses A Controversial Bout

Indian boxer Sumit Sangwan was eliminated from the Men's 81 kg Boxing tournament at the London Olympics in the Round of 32 after he lost a controversial match against Brazilian Yamaguchi Falcao Florentino 14-15.

Sumit Sangwan played well in Round 1 and was clearly leading, but to everyone's surprise the judges declared that Florentino was leading 5-4 after Round 1.

Sumit Sangwan was attacking his opponent in Round 2 as well and played far better than his rival. But still the result was declared in favour of the Brazilian 5-4.

Sumit Sangwan was trailing by 2 points at the start of Round 3. He finally got the lead in Round 3 and secured 6 points against 5 by his opponent. But Sangwan eventually lost the match 14-15.

India has officially lodged a complaint with the organisers of London Olympics as Sumit Sangwan should have certainly won the match. Even the commentators were surprised by the verdict and called it a "daylight robbery".
